Art of Mourning at Leila’s Hair Museum
The Victorian Hair Workers International Presents Art of Mourning ‘s 2 lecturers in one day! Hosted by Leila’s Hair Museum, we welcome Lord Hayden Peters of from Melbourne, Australia to his first visit to Missouri!
Come listen to amazing details in his first lecture for the day of the hair work industry from the makers of these amazing hair pieces we marvel at! You are invited to join us as Lord Hayden Peters will honor us with his wealth of knowledge about hair work and the facts that bring these antiques and heirlooms to life! Questions and answers are welcomed after the lecture and a tour of Leila’s Hair Museum will be included after the lecture. The museum opens and seating will begin at 9:30 a.m. as the lecture will begin at 10:00 a.m. and run until 12:00 p.m. There will be question and answers taken by Hayden at this time.
We will break for lunch and Hayden returns for a second lecture . Seating will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the lecture will begin with 2:00 p.m. This second lecture will by focusing on the symbols and colors with their meanings as viewed through the centuries. From the symbols on tombstones, to enameled and hair jewelry pieces, to the pictures and shaped pieces seen in both sentimental and mourning artwork including wreaths, literature, and stationary, he will give meaning to these heartfelt time capsules. Questions and answers will be taken after this second lecture ends at 4:00 p.m. and a tour of Leila’s Hair Museum will be offered after this lecture.

We offer these lectures with limited seating of 50 people per lecture. You can purchase tickets for one lecture for $30 per person or for both lectures at a total of $50 per person and receive a gift. That is a $10 saving and a free Victorian Hand with Ring of Charms! We will present to you upon your arrival, this Victorian inspired hand holding a ring of charms. There will be 3 randomly selected charms for each hand. Some will be enameled, others are dimensional, but all will be explained in their color and symbolism at the lectures offered.
