Third Stage Mourning Ring with Amythests, Mid-19thC

Worn in the third stage of mourning due to its colour and construction, this piece shows the use of a front and back memento area (though the reverse memento container has been lost and quite possibly the dedication).

These compartments were usually sealed with gold or glass and are quite typical of around the mid to late 19th century.
